Sosoliso plane crash survivor wows judges at America’s Got Talent [MUST WATCH]

Sosoliso plane crash survivor wows judges at America’s Got Talent

I still cannot control my tears as I write this. It’s been 12 years since Sosoliso Airlines flight 1145 crash-landed in Port Harcourt resulting in the death of 108 of the 110 people aboard. Among the victims were 61 secondary school pupils from the Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja, one of whom survived, named Okwuchi Kechi. Sosoliso plane crash survivor wows judges at America’s Got Talent.

Perhaps one of the most tragic aspects of the plane crash was that several of the passengers survived the initial crash landing, but were killed in the ensuing fire due to the inadequate emergency preparedness of the Port Harcourt airport. The airport only had one fire truck and no ambulances, which meant the rescue process went extremely slow.

Sadly, only two of these victims survived, the other five succumbed to their wounds. Kechi was among the only two survivors of the tragic crash. Our very own Kechi was one of the contestants at the 2017 America’s Got Talent and she succeeded in impressing the judges and audience.

Kechi did a song by Ed Sheeran, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ released in 2014. She gave a little background on why she will be doing the song and left everyone in awe when she was done singing. Simeon Cowell even gave her a standing ovation when it was all done.

And darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70, and baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23, and I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways…Maybe just the touch of a hand. Oh me I fall in love with you every single day…”

This song won the Grammy Award of the Year, Grammy Award for Record of the Year and lots more.

You know, Kechi’s story in line with the song will just give you chills. I do hope I recover from this throwback shock. This just revived me from my slumber and makes me know that nothing can stop anyone in life if only we but try. She says she started singing at the age of say seven or eight but only seriously about 12 years now. Music to her is her escape in which she finds comfort.
