The matter was reported to the Police and the child was rescued without paying any ransom.
Kidnap business is no longer big news in Nigeria as some of the suspects, over time, have confessed that it is very lucrative. However, the most intruiging part of it is how some persons bring themselves to the point of kidnapping their own blood relatives just for money.
In a similar case last year, we heard of how the Police in Lagos State took into custody a Ghanaian identified as Enyolam Believe, for allegedly kidnapping her niece in the Ikotun area of the state.
A police source told the Punch that “the suspect and the girl’s mother are sisters. Believe, however, colluded with her friend, Aigbomiam, to abduct the girl so that she could make money from the mother.”
The suspect conspired with her friend, Agatha Aigbomiam, to commit the crime. They confessed to the crime while being paraded before journalists at the police command headquarters in Ikeja.
Reports had it then that the 8-year-old child was abducted on her way to school and taken to Ogun State by Aigbomiam. It was also reported that the little girl cried out loudly to draw the attention of residents which led to the arrest of the two suspects.
