The founder and presiding Bishop of the megachurch Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria, and Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has explained why it is important for Christians to pay tithe. Bishop Oyedepo.

The architect and Christian author cum preacher, was reacting to the ongoing controversies stirred up by popular On Air Personality, OAP, Daddy Freeze concerning paying tithes. Tithing in churches has recently been generating series of arguments on the social media.

Bishop OyedepoAccording to Oyedepo, tithing opens the windows of heaven and ensures divine blessings for Christians, stressing that those who don’t tithe are permanently beggars. He said this while addressing members of Dunamis International Gospel Center in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.

The cleric said, “If you don’t pay tithe you are permanently a beggar. I’m permanently under an open heaven. Every seed you give to God returns but only tithe secures your destiny. It is tithing that secures your blessing.

“Through the mystery of tithing you don’t run out of divine ideas. Tithing opens the windows of heaven and pours you quick understandings,” Pastor Oyedepo added.

In the same vein, the General Overseer, G. O, (Worldwide), Pastor E. A Adeboye, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, recently waded into the ongoing tithe controversies. In his sermon on Sunday, November 5, 2017, Pastor Adeboye asked the congregation to avoid divine curse like a plaque by pleasing God and also in paying of their tithe.

Bishop OyedepoAdeboye Enumerating secrets of breaking forth, used the opportunity to react to Daddy Freeze who said no Nigerian Prophet, Pastor or General Overseer is qualified to receive tithes from their members.

He said, “Avoid divine curse like a plaque, somebody show me something on the internet on the question of paying tithe or not and the fellow said tithe is suppose to be used to buy alcohol and drink in the church…” Read up his full statement HERE.
