Represented by Mrs Toro Oladapo, a former NAWOJ President and Director, Public Affairs, Lagos Ministry of Information, the commissioner said fathers should stop competing for breasts with their babies.
The commissioner said that women, in the past, used breastfeeding for child-spacing and family planning, urging NAWOJ to spread the awareness.
He said, “Nothing is natural like breast milk, human milk is better for babies than animal milk. Thank you so much for promoting the essence of womanhood. The media should help ensure mothers are breastfeeding to raise a healthy nation.
“You will all agree with me that children that are breastfed distinguish themselves academically,’’ he added.
This comes after a medical expert, Madam Mary Azika, who doubles as a midwife in the Upper East region, Accra Ghana, advised men to suck the breasts of their partners regularly to prevent or curb risks of breast cancer.
Azika said in part: “The lump in the breast is painless. It’s so small that if you don’t examine it well, you would not know. We have breast tissues; but when the lump is there and you don’t examine it well, you won’t know. It’s painless. It can be there for years.
