Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar seems to have kicked off his Presidential campaign against the forthcoming elections in 2019. This comes barely two days after his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC. Atiku confirms running for Presidency.
The former Vice President had tendered his resignation from APC. He explained why he resigned, although he did not state which party he intends to join. While citing maltreatment by the party and failure of the party to live up to the expectation of Nigerian youth, Abubakar had said he is pondering on his political future. Abubakar confirmed this in a statement he personally signed on Friday, November 24, 2017. See full letter HERE.
Atiku confirms running for Presidency
Meanwhile, recall that Atiku had dissociated himself from news which made the rounds that he had intentions to run for Presidency in 2019 elections. Atiku was reacting to the fake video which is now in circulation, purporting to be a formal declaration of his intent to contest the 2019 presidential election.
The former Vice President, speaking through his media office in Abuja, said the video is a bad job of bad people with bad intentions. According to Atiku, some mischief makers are using a video clip extracted from his 2011 presidential declaration to create a false impression that he formally declared for the 2019 presidential election. He said such propaganda is being deliberately promoted by political opponents in order to create acrimony.
Atiku advised those involved in such – ‘laughable and unintelligent propaganda of lies and intentional mischief to find something useful to do with their time instead of using his name to achieve their malicious political objectives.’ See full details HERE.
